What You can watch without a TV licence
What can you watch without a TV licence? The Answer is around 90% plus of the content that Freeview channels show in their scheduled program listings, the exception being you must watch it as catch-up, around an hour plus after they have shown it on their live as shown broadcast service.
Many also have a live TV option but stay clear of that and you are OK If you are fearful of the live TV auto starting then you might want to steer clear of Pluto TV. I am not so I have included it in my list.
Itv hub shows all the content a couple of hours after its first airing. Stay clear of the live TV option and you're ok.
All4 does the same just stay clear of the live TV option.
My5 is also the same.
UKTV has content from three channels, Yesterday, Dave & Drama. It's a mixture of content so there is something for most people, my favourite is Sharpe or any one of the documentaries on WW1 & 2.
FA player shows live women's football, this is also shown on Sky & BBC2 the games can be watched afterward on the fa player some are just highlights and others are full games. I watch live games as I like football.
Discovery Plus requires a subscription but there is some free content on there. personally it's one of the few on-demand services I don't use.
If you have a VPN, I recommend one, if you are saving £160 per year as for less than half the licence fee you can get a two year subscription. Personally I use NordVPN On a two year plan it's only $3.67/£2.66 per month, £63.84 that's a first year saving of £95.16 compare that to £13.25 per month for a TV licence. Even if there is no increase in the licence fee that's a two year saving of £254.16.
Plus if you have Netflix account you can login to any country and get content specific to the country, Amazon doesn't allow that, as it knows the delivery address for Prime orders, I think it links the login with the delivery address so you are locked into the country you live in.
The VPN would allow you to watch catch-up content locked to the specific country you logged the VPN into, for example The CW Network in the US. It also allows YouTube content locked to a specific country that you login too so no this content is not available in your location popping up if you are logged into the country of the content is broadcast from.
